Seven UPCT students, scholarships to research "green" solutions for industrial architecture (16/04/2010)

Seven scholars, students of second cycle of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, investigate on biomaterials, renewable energy, eco-efficient facilities and design criteria heating and passive cooling, applicable to industrial buildings.

The scholarships, which are included in the pilot project on development of industrial architecture promoted by the Ministry of Universities, Business and Research, will allow these students to focus on research into new materials and facilities and energy efficiency savings under the personal tutoring teaching and research and coordination UPCT by Argema.

The benefit of these scholarships for eight months, which are the first the first phase of ambitious project that promotes sustainable industrial building construction.

Among the agencies participating in its development are the info, the Public Land and Business Equipment in the Region of Murcia (Seremur), the Regional Agency for Energy Management Murcia (Argema), Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena (UPCT ) and technology centers of the Energy and Environment and Construction

The project aims to create buildings and industrial infrastructures 'green' energy self-sufficient "with clear environmental and business interests both by opening new business opportunities for industry and construction", said Juan Jose Beltran Director of Development Institute (Info).

The second phase of the project will address the development of technical project through a competition for designing a sustainable industrial building in order to eventually develop and build pilot craft land at its disposal in the industrial Seremur industrial 'What Bolarín' of La Union.
