As stated by Salvador Martinez, head of the Socialists in the area, "It is shameful that we have to leave the press to remind people that none of the promises of the Councillor for Sports, Mr Alonso Gómez, has been accomplished after fifteen years head of the Department. And today more than 1500 youth in La Manga, Cabo de Palos and spheres of influence have the sad privilege of not having any sports area built during the last fifteen years of Popular Party government. Only € 35,000 has been invested in Playa Honda and has been funded by the PLAN-E of the Government of Spain. A shame. "

The Socialists consider neFAST councilor management of sports throughout the county, but particularly in the area of high incidence Resort, where so important would be to have good sports facilities, not only for the health of our youth, but as demand for tourism elite athletes who have been so much development in nearby communities and could have the best space with the best temperatures for over 300 days a year.

Sports like football, beach soccer, paddle tennis, tennis, among others, could be attracted to our coast with exceptional facilities that we have.

For Martinez, "As each year we report the closure of a hotel or apartment in La Manga because of the lack of a genuine political commitment to maintaining and improving the tourist potential of the region and City Council, we have to fight for maintenance of the last wilderness areas, as is the case Calarreona, compared to the danger of the possible construction of more housing within walking distance as an area of high environmental value as it represents the CALBLANQUE NATURAL PARK. "

In the view of socialists need a real tourism policy which has as fundamental pillars: environmental protection, enhancement of water sports in the Mar Menor are a unique space for safe practice, and the increase in hotel beds quality to enable us to attract leading tour operators and major European Senior Tourism in the pursuit of our therapeutic Mar Menor, the largest seaside resort on the Mediterranean.
