FETE - Complaint UGT school closure Antonio Arévalo de Cartagena (04/02/2010)

The Federation of Education Workers of UGT Murcia, claim the intent of the General Department of the Ministry of Education to close the school "Antonio Arévalo" of Cartagena.

Francisco Antonio Ferrandez, Secretary General of FETE-UGT Murcia Region, said: "We will ensure strict compliance with the law in regard to closing the center, and are willing to go to court if the closure does not comply existing legislation. "

Ferrández indicates that "the policy of the Ministry of Education to close public schools goes against the spirit of the Social Pact for Education signed last May, which included the promotion of quality public education."

Similarly, FETE-UGT is concerned about the consequences that this decision of the Ministry of Education may cause to the other schools in the area that will have to enroll students from the school "Antonio Arévalo" with the consequent problem of space and school places that are centers of the area.

Before the manifestation of the Directorate General of centers in the plot where the school is located is to build a school and a Center for Adult Education, FETE-UGT was asked what the budget for the construction of since the center is not reflected in the budgets of the Autonomous Community of Murcia for 2010.
