Police and Fire get fully by falling trees and signs due to gusts of wind (22/12/2009)

Local police and firefighters have had to be used to fund the early hours of the morning to attend the twenty incidents that have been experiencing as a result of strong gusts of wind that have come to reach 80 miles per hour.

The main activities have focused on the removal of trees and signs knocked down by wind, a cornice that threatened to fall to the street in Camp Street.

The rains in recent days has softened the ground and this has been the main reason that a dozen trees have been felled to be buffeted by the wind.

The areas most affected were those of Admiral Baldasano, Los Barreros where a tree fell on a vehicle, Miranda, Vista Alegre and the Parque Juan Carlos I.

The trees are being removed by the brigade of Parks and Gardens.

Sebatián Area Ferring, near the school in the Rambla the wind has dropped a few posters.

Another notable impact has been the downfall of one of the Christmas trees that adorn the city, specifically next to the Palace Hall.

Fire Station sources report that the situation of strong winds will be maintained throughout the day.

The same sources recalled the advice given in such cases as:

"Close doors and windows, mainly to the outside, leaving open one on the opposite side to avoid the pressure that arises.

Save and secure all outdoor objects that could be drawn, (tarpaulins, pots, etc.).

Do not protected with fences, trees, to avoid the danger of landslides and falling.
