González Tovar visit the Hospitality Center in Santa Teresa Cartagena for the delivery of 10,000 kg of food (18/12/2009)

The Murcia region has received from the Agricultural Guarantee Fund in 2009 a total of 1,728,724 kg of food for a monetary amount of 2,120,227 euros.

These foods have reached 140 organizations and over 140,000 people

The Government delegate, Rafael González Tovar, accompanied by Red Cross President, Aurelio Luna, President of the Hospital of Santa Teresa, Villar Vicente Conesa, and the Area Director of Agriculture, Francisco Parrilla, this morning visited the premises This NGO Cartagena for the fourth installment of food from the Spanish Agricultural Guarantee Fund (FEGA), which involves a total of 9,873 pounds of food and involves an investment of 12,224 euros.

These are: Red Cross has received a total of 505,382 kg of food, Caritas FESBAL 819,349.7 kg and 29,418 kg

The government delegate said that this year has increased by 75 percent the amount of food to distribute over the previous year, and also the needs are greatest.

For the whole of Spain has invested a total of 62 million euros, the amount allocated by the European Commission under the Food Distribution Program for the most needy in the community.

Staples

These are mainly food staples like rice, sugar, flour, milk, pasta, cheese, etc.

The Government delegate reported that Spanish Red Cross and Caritas FESBAL have been responsible for distributing these foods in 2009, through a network of 7,300 charities throughout Spain, 140 of which are in Murcia.
