The exhibition "Diversity in you" has been inaugurated this morning (30/09/2009)

More than 300,000 immigrants from different countries living in the Region of Murcia

Exposure Diversity in you, organized by the City Council Columbares and Cartagena, through the departments of Education and Social Care, was presented this morning at the Cultural Center Luzzy Ramón Alonso.

The sample had a budget of 155,000 euros from the central government and the autonomous region, and aims to highlight the stereotypes and prejudices that are sometimes unknown to other cultures and that will be disarmed along the visit to it.

Attended by the director general of Immigration and Volunteer of the Ministry of Social Policy, Leopoldo Navarro, deputy director general of the Integration of Immigrants, Ministry of Labour and Immigration, May Larraz, along with the councilman of Social Care, Antonio Calderon, Councilwoman Culture, Rosario Montero the Councillor for Education, Josefa Maroto, Antonio Nicholas, president of the Association Columbares, in charge of curating the exhibition.

According to May Larraz the central government has allocated this year, some 12,486,803 euros to fund support for the Reception and Integration of Immigrants and Strengthening Education, Autonomous Region of Murcia and municipalities, aid that is received since 2005, which are destined for reception, education, living, social services, health, co-development, children and youth and advocacy.

Murcia society has become a benchmark in terms of social policies of immigration, through partnerships, the council, which has enabled more than 300,000 immigrants living in the region, from more than 120 countries, live among us and access to healthcare, education, employment, among others, stressed Leopoldo Navarro.

Councilman Antonio Calderón has said that through this exhibition, aimed at young people, we can get a more tolerant society.

We see the positive aspects of multiculturalism, all we can learn from different people as a positive value.

The exhibition will be open until until October 30 at the Cultural Center from 9:30 to 13:30 and from 17 to 20 hours Monday through Friday.
