YW 5712, the flying aces (13/09/2009)

A plane chartered by Audi MedCup for the last event of the season |

"On behalf of Audi MedCup wish you a pleasant flight to Murcia to play the last trophy of the 2009 season."

With these words were received by the flight commander YW5712 forty sailors who flew last night on board the chartered flight from Sardinia to Audi MedCup Murcia.

Why Sardinia?

During the last week, the waters of Porto Cervo hosted a classic superyachts in the Mediterranean, the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup, which annually brings together many of the best sailors in the world.

Precisely for that reason, part of the Audi MedCup crew was participating in Sardinia until yesterday, when he finished the test.

To ensure that all could participate in Porto Cervo, arriving in time for the final round of the Audi MedCup season, and incidentally facilitating the transfer from Sardinia to Cartagena, Circuit organization chartered a plane out of Olbia at 19: 30 yesterday to reach the edge of San Javier 21:00 pm

In Murcia airport are complimentary Eperara 12 Audi Q7 vehicles that would transfer to your hotel.

The chartered aircraft model was manufactured by Bombardier CRJ200, with 26.77 meters (87 feet) long and 21.21 meters (69 feet) wingspan, 50 seats and a range of more than 3,000 km, maximum altitude of 41,000 feet (12.5 km), maximum speed 860 km / h (464 knots) cruise speed of 786 km / h (424 knots).

On board this flight coincided Audi MedCup Bribón seven crew (including his boat, Thierry Peponnet and his navigator Marcel Van Triest), six of Matador (including navigator Steve Hayles), four of Artemis (including Basque Vascotto, helmsman the ship in Cartagena), four of Emirates Team New Zealand, seven of Quantum (including strategist Mark Mendelblatt and navigator Ian Moore), five of TP52 Audi powered by Q8, three of Synergy (including Francesco Mongelli navigator), two Bigamist (including Nacho Postigo, navigator, the then Technical Director Audi MedCup) and one GP42 Rome.

With five of the best sailors in the world on board, to be sure that the flight commander had no trouble choosing the best route between Olbia and San Javier ...
