The UPCT presents a project to create a Campus of Excellence (11/09/2009)

Today's report refers to the project by the team UPCT government, in collaboration with architect Martin Lejarraga, to qualify for grants convened by ministerial order, and that in principle only be eligible secondary school students selected on the basis of the projects submitted.

The call includes two programs of action.

One first is the development and realization Subprogram Strategic Plan Campus Sustainability and Conversion to International Excellence.

The second is the Sub-R & D and Transfer.

The Technical University of Cartagena has made proposals to both subprogrammes.

The name of the proposal is CAMPUS_UPCT.

The idea is, in the words of spokesman for the university, "university city form an axis extending from the campus of Paseo Alfonso XIII, continuing with the premises of the former Club Santiago, a former City Council Administration Building, the Building Miracle and the campus of the Sea Wall. "

To this end, the project includes ambitious urban initiatives to create an enabling environment for the culture and study.

Among others, the construction of a new residence hall for four students and the construction of footpaths in the environment.

The bases of the project down the generation of new employment areas in the hill university of San Jose, where they will meet residential, sports and services, consolidation and enhancement of historic routes, the establishment of new urban routes for the continuity of influences throughout the university campus and the rest of the city and finally the construction of new facilities and buildings to complete the program of uses and services of the university.

"

UPCT also submitted a proposal to receive funding sub R & D and Transfer, which aims to increase the quantity and quality of human resources and scientific equipment and technology services that support technological research and technology transfer.
