The Region is organizing the first national race for displaying vehicles powered by alternative energy (08/09/2009)

The Minister of Universities and Research Company, Salvador Marin, announced today the celebration in the Region of Murcia's first exhibition race cars powered by alternative energies and renewable energies in Spain, which will take place at the Circuito de Cartagena next 3 October.

Editing 'zero' of the 'Solar-Murcia Race' is the starting point for a project that seeks to turn this event in the main forum for exchange of ideas and knowledge transfer between universities and enterprises to design cars of the future.

This first 'Solar Race', organized by the Ministry through the Energy Management Agency of the Region of Murcia (ARGEM), has a career and a sample of vehicles from different Spanish regions and cities in Europe, with a dozen teams already confirmed and an efficient driving global open to anyone interested in participating.

The winner of the competition will be the most efficient conductor, ie one who has obtained a lower average fuel consumption.

In the event that one or more participants to obtain the same average fuel consumption, will be better classified employee who has less time.

May participate in the competition all those who possess the type B driver's license, effective on the date of completion of the test and a minimum of two years.
