Open day to celebrate the first year of the Teatro Romano (06/07/2009)

The Roman Theatre in Cartagena held on Saturday 11 July an open day to celebrate the first anniversary of his inauguration.

A year ago, flagship of the local and regional archeology, the Roman Theatre and Museum were open to the public by the President of the Autonomous Community, Ramón Luis Valcárcel, and Mayor, Pilar Barreiro, culminating a long process of recovery and enhancement of the field, driven by the Fundación Teatro Romano de Cartagena, as designed by architect Rafael Moneo.

Since its opening has been more than 155,206 visitors, mostly foreigners and outside the Region of Murcia: only 23 percent of visitors were citizens of the Autonomous Region compared to 32 percent foreign and 45 percent of people from other Spanish regions.

The open day will consist of free access to the site on an uninterrupted schedule of 10:00 to 20:00.
