On June 17 The Youth Café Project Campano served one year of life since its opening in the neighborhood clubhouse.
At this time, has received a total of 4,200 visits and there have been seventy-nine diverse activities both educational and cultural, sporting and experiential travel, etc.
All of them have gained wide acceptance and participation by young people, becoming one of them organized by themselves.
The Youth Café is an educational, informative and youth participation generator that has a physical appearance of bar, café or leisure center for young people.
This project is an initiative to promote Social Initiative, funded by the city of Cartagena in collaboration with the Municipal Social Services and the Department of Youth, the Government Delegation for the National Plan on Drugs and the Obra Social La Caixa.
The Youth Café opened its doors on June 17, 2008.
Being a pioneer experience in Spain, has had a good acceptance in the neighborhood and the young participants.
As an experiment has been quite positive in the course of the year as they have fulfilled the expectations set and the participants have been very involved in the development.
The Youth Café has an internal educational team consists of 4 educators and a coordinator.
The educators are the ones who opened the cafe every day initiating activities that will develop throughout the afternoon.
During the afternoon the young people perform various activities, always in an organized manner.
Some of them play the Wii, some internet surfing, make games or even sports games.
Throughout this year young people have learned to self-manage the equipment and thus giving activities, participation and responsibility and maintaining a commitment to equipping the Youth Café.
