The Community will make a new effort to support workers zincs and an independent expert firm will verify the feasibility of the project (26/06/2009)

The Minister of Universities and Research Company, Salvador Marín, has shown once again today the regional government support Spanish workers Zinc (zincs) and the company has offered to subsidize a firm of independent experts to verify the feasibility of the project business.

In this sense, Marin said that "the legal representatives of the zincs have presented us with a spreadsheet, but that is not a viable plan.

For that reason, to break the deadlock and support workers, make a new effort and we will look for a firm of independent experts outside the company and the administration, which once and for all check the viability of the business project and the hypothesis as presented by the company. "

They said the new director after his meeting this afternoon the regional administration with the city of Cartagena, the Spanish legal representatives of Zinc, the works council and trade unions.

The feasibility plan must pick a market study, an economic-financial, legal study and a technical report by independent experts backed environmental.

"This plan, together with the unequivocal decision of capital injection and guarantees for investors, it is essential for the Community to give the endorsement of all the proposed Spanish Murcia Zinc and that ICO and financial institutions, with the corresponding endorsement of the Community, to support the project financing, "said Marin.

The development of this Plan, as well as meeting a number of requirements for implementing the business plan, if that proves to be viable, will no doubt less than 16 and 18 months, so that the Minister of Universities, Business and Research called an exercise in corporate responsibility for no more delays.

Given these limits, Marin promised to find alternative solutions so that workers can return to productive activity in a shorter period.

For this reason, the regional government and the city of Cartagena are committed to streamlining the procedures for implementation of the Spanish PV project of Zinc, which could employ 85 workers within six months, according to company forecasts.

"We have given the company a deadline of Tuesday for submission to the American investor and would say they have 4.5 million euros for this project and the necessary guarantees for the support of the Community.

If so, the city of Cartagena is committed to provide an urgent provisional license for the project and from the Ministry will negotiate the transfer of land to SEPES and streamline all steps necessary, "said Marin.

Pending legal representatives Spanish Zinc meet the commitment they have made today, the Minister of Universities, Research Company, Executive reiterated the City of Murcia and Cartagena zincs workers.
