The Moroccan Mohamed Nedali Wins International Award VII Diversity novel The Sea Lyrics (27/05/2009)

A jury, Marta Segarra, Inmaculada Díaz Narbona, Vicente Molina Foix, Rodrigo Rey Rosa, Miriam Tey on behalf of the editorial El Cobre and Rodrigo Fresán as secretary, was granted in May 2009, the VII Prize The Sea Lyrics (International Award for Novel of the Diversity) to the meat of the novel written by Mohamed Nédali.

As part of the festival La Mar de Músicas, was established in 2003, the International Novel Prize Diversity 'La Mar de Letras ", in collaboration with El Cobre Ediciones.

An international award that is unique to present authors have never before been published in Spain.

This year the festival is dedicated to Morocco's Mohamed winning author's novel Nedali meat first.

Nedali is Professor of French in Morocco and has just published his third book.

Ediciones El Cobre in collaboration with La Mar de Músicas edited the novel in Spain.

The author will receive their prize within a week literary festival.

Mohamed was born in Tahannaoute Nedali near Marrakech in 1962.

After completing his secondary education in Marrakech, he moved to France where he studied modern literature at the Faculty of Arts at the University of Nancy II.

Works as a high school teacher of French since 1985, currently Tahannaoute, and has just published his third novel.

Nedali away from the Moroccan literature in its traditional French approach popular live reality.

His prose carries a universe which combines sensuality, frustrations, religious and family disputes.

The winning novel, prime beef, revolves around the young Thami, a descendant of a prestigious family of Moroccan intellectuals who rebelled against his authoritarian father, he left the madrasa to become a butcher.

As forms in the office, and scorned by his family, Thami also enters the world of love and pieces of freshly slaughtered meat from the butcher are entangled with the passions which unite the actor with various women in the novel : Zineb beautiful, her true love, but also Habiba, Nadia or Keltoum ...

Prime beef is a novel learning, perhaps even start in the streets and souks of Marrakech, vibrant life, become the backdrop of a sentimental education full of sensuality, carnal passion and sense of humor.

This is the first novel by Mohamed Nedali.

Published in 2003, earned its author the Grand Atlas Award 2005, chaired by Nobel Laureate for Literature 2008 JMG Le Clezio.

Nedali never before been published in Spain, to be awarded the International Prize VII Novel Diversity La Mar de Letras, an award for its dedication recalls the mythical Formentor Prize, but its uniqueness is seen in the authors who are not European necessarily, from award-winning novels, in most cases, non-Western cultures as was the case with Sunny Singh (India) with the book's suicidal grandmother, Sergio Bizzio (Argentina) with Rabia, Ozlem Kumrular (Turkey) Istanbul to Rhodes, Niq Mhlongo (South Africa) Dog eat dog, and Hector Manjarrez (Mexico) with the damn paint.

The award consists of a bronze figure by sculptor Dario Aguilar and publication of the work by Ediciones El Cobre.

The author talks about his novel in the port city on Wednesday July 22 along with Miriam Tey and Rodrigo Fresán.

The prize Lyrics Sea is within the literary program of the festival La Mar de Músicas, which this year dedicated to Morocco, Moroccan writers will like Asmaa Benade, Aïcha Bassry, Maimouni Mohamed, Khalid Raissouni, Mahi Binebine, Najat El Hachmi, Mubarak Mohamed Rabia Asedie Tazi.
