The President of the Autonomous Community, Ramón Luis Valcárcel, announced today that the Roman Theatre of Cartagena has received more than 128,000 visitors since its opening last July, of which nearly 40 percent are foreigners.

Valcárcel chaired the board of the Teatro Romano de Cartagena Foundation, which realized the smooth running of the museum and the activities that have taken place during the ten months he has been open.

During this meeting, topics to be addressed, emphasizes the implementation of the Center for the Study of Roman architecture in the museum space, which involves creating a specific room documentation and a library specializing in classical archeology and Roman architecture.

Specifically, the proposed documentation room house all the information generated in the twenty years of involvement in the archaeological remains of the monument, which will be available to all accredited researchers.

In addition, the Board of Trustees approved the signing of a cooperation agreement with the University of Murcia, in particular with the Department of Archaeology, to promote scientific research in this field, bringing the Roman Theatre Museum as an academic reference .

On the other hand, has addressed the excavation project of the porch back of the theater, located in the later part of the scenic facade, whose excavation will complete the tour of the monument through the gateways designed by Rafael Moneo in the building Skylight.
