Schools update their facilities (30/04/2009)

The director general of Department, María José Jiménez, and the Councillor for Education, Josefa Maroto, inaugurated this morning the new Library of the College of Education and Primary 'Carthage' (Vista Alegre), plus some other improvements that have been conducted at the Centre, as adaptations of toilets and classrooms and a redistribution of floor space.

During these days, and the result of close collaboration between the Department of Education of the City of Cartagena and the Directorate General of Department of the Ministry of Education of the Autonomous Region, are opening new facilities in schools in the municipality.

These additional facilities in addition to teaching proper character, and have been reusing old ones renovated space to accommodate the changing needs of schools.

In total, the Ministry will subsidize approximately 3,400,000 euros this year for improvements in schools.

As confirmed by the Councillor for Education, Josefa Maroto, have just completed the expansion of the school Santa Florentina de La Palma, and the Mediterranean, La Manga and other interventions are planned in schools Concepción Arenal, Mare Nostrum, Virginia Vincent Perez and Ros include more than fifteen schools.

It is also planned the first phase of construction of the new school which will be located in the Rambla, worth some 1,095,000 Euros, and the new school in Los Nietos.

Recently opened, also, the new Board of Teachers College and Primary Education 'San Antonio Abad' (San Anton), which will allow better implementation of the activities of the faculty of the center.

In the first half of May, will be College and Primary Education 'Hannibal' (Los Mateos) that debuts its new library, equipped with whiteboards, a new advanced multimedia resources which are currently providing schools .

The opening ceremony of the new school library also plans to attend the Councillor for Education.

These new facilities will add to the extensive list of projects to reform schools to the School Infrastructure Unit of the City Council is carrying out in collaboration with the Ministry of Education of the Autonomous Community of Murcia.
