The mobile phone is placed at the head of consumer complaints in Cartagena (28/04/2009)

The Office of Consumer Affairs in the municipality of Cartagena have detected an increase in the number of complaints in the field of mobile telephony and the Internet, around 70 percent, continuing the trend that has been occurring on a national level, which has caused these complaints are on a par with claims on home purchases, which were far more numerous.

According to the charge of the Municipal Office of Consumer Affairs, Chelo Nieto, the reason for this increase is largely due to misinformation by a sector of the population, young and old, which consumes very sophisticated equipment that can not handle, well to be misled by advertising.

Just to try to solve this problem, the council has organized jointly with the Polytechnic University of Cartagena the Fourth Conference on Consumption and New Technologies, outlined today by the Consumer Council Member, María Dolores García Nieto, director and professor of the same UPCT, Juan Luis Pedroza.

Divided into three sections, the conference, held from 5 to May 7 afternoon at the headquarters of Antiguones will devote one day to expose the current telecommunication systems, one to the laws governing consumer electronics and new technologies and the last to discuss the origin of the complaints that occur in this area.

María Dolores García Nieto stressed the interest of the City to inform citizens about his rights as consumers, mainly in the field of new technologies and Internet purchases, which are a danger to expose personal and confidential data, hence it will always support initiatives days how are you celebrating its fourth edition.
