La Semana de la Guitarra Cartagena celebrates ten years (13/04/2009)

La Semana de la Guitarra de Cartagena, organized by the Department of Guitar Conservatory of Music, 10 years.

A decade offering live music, training and various activities related to the guitar to the city and its visitors.

With it have come to Cartagena students, teachers, guitarists and guitar makers from across the Spanish geography, France, Germany, Cuba, Argentina and many other countries.

Guitar Week, held from Monday until April 19, will celebrate his birthday with other anniversaries: the 70th anniversary of maestro Leo Brouwer, a great opportunity and a luxury Cartagena both to himself and Conservatory the centennial of two great figures of Spanish music: Francisco Tarrega, Isaac Albeniz.

The week also provides a consolidated series of concerts by top-level players: Carmen María Ros, the outstanding guitarist Murcia, opens the week, reminding Tárrega.

Setting partners, one of the most important international projection Spanish guitarists, who first visited the city and Paul Galbraith, with its unique eight-string guitar and performer much in demand in the five continents.

This year will feature one of the greatest interpreters of the flamenco guitar concert of all time, Victor Monge 'Serranito', that quartet will perform a concert on Friday 17 April to speak at the activities of the Lutheria exposure the next day.

The concerts will be closed by Leo Brouwer himself, as director in charge of the Symphony Orchestra of the Region of Murcia.

This has been one of the most ambitious of this tenth edition of the Guitar Week, thanks to the collaboration of the Department of Culture of the City of Cartagena, allowing coordinate dates with the Symphonic Cycle in the city offered an annual basis .

The program is made up entirely of works from the master production Brouwer, including his last concert for guitar and orchestra, the Concerto da Requiem (2005) to the memory of Toru Takemitsu, with Ricardo Gallo as soloist.

The concerts, except to take place on Saturday 18 have free entrance until full capacity.

COURSES AND WORKSHOPS

Another important aspect is education week.

Training courses aimed at guitarists of all levels, teachers will have as Leo Brouwer, Marco Socías and Paul Galbraith.

This year he joined a workshop on introduction to flamenco guitar and dance accompaniment, designed for all levels, all ages, and all interested guitarists of all levels.

Victor Bravo and imparts it with the participation of the dancer Margarita Sánchez for the development of the practice.

Finally, on Saturday 18, the Exhibition of Violin Guitar reach its tenth edition.

Has established itself as the only activity of its kind in Spain.

Cartagena has become a reference for guitar builders around the country, an event which some do not fail and gives the opportunity to admire the beauty of their instruments, listening to their sound and to test innovations with dedicatee guitarists.

Throughout the different editions, have been exhibited around 200 instruments from classical guitar, flamenco, acoustic, copies of antique instruments and even an electric bass, involved nearly hundred guitarists.

Among the activities planned for this day there are two talks: Víctor Monge 'Serranito' and Paul Galbraith, who will present the 8-string guitar with touching and original project is a luthier David Rubio.

All activities of this day are open to the public.

Also during the week there will be a photo exhibit of the guitarist Ignacio Ortuño in the central hall of the Conservatory of Music.
