Local Police incorporates seven new vehicles to its fleet (04/02/2009)

The fleet of Local Police is modernized and renewed with the addition of seven new cars, five brand Seat Toledo and two Pryus Toyota, whose hybrid engine, half electric and half of fuel is less polluting, and are made test with the idea of progress in the environmental field.

The budget for this action is of 166,000 euros.

With the addition of the two Toyota hybrids, Cartagena became the first city council in the region to use this type of car, along with the City of Abarán has also purchased one of them.

The novelty of these cars is that if you do not exceed 60 miles per hour powered electric motor, that is, do not consume fuel, which do not pollute.

The presentation of these new cars has been attended by the Mayor, Pilar Barreiro, Councillor for Citizen Security, Enrique Pérez Abellán, and the Director General of Public Safety, Carlos Nieto, who have highlighted the efforts of the City to invest in media material and human resources to the local police.

Since 2005 the fleet of police vehicles has increased by 27 percent, currently has 47 cars and 52 motorcycles, and also the staff will consist of 25 new agents over this year, currently in practice , bringing the total number of agents is 325.
