Throttling morning fire in an apartment building on Calle San Fernando (20/01/2009)

A fire occurred early this morning in a three-story building on Calle San Fernando de Cartagena kept the fire smothering the fire for one hour.

The incident occurred about 3.30 hours in the morning, at number 45 of that street.

The fire had originated on the ground floor of a three-storey building on the landing of the staircase, which was partially burning a moped and electric meter cupboards.

The smoke generated was very abundant, inundating the entire stairwell and entering houses.

Inside, there were people crying for help.

While performing the extinction, fire swept the entire flight of stairs, warning occupants that door to door not to try and head out to the balconies or windows.

The extinction of the fire was very fast.

After making opened the door to the roof, the smoke was ventilated and agreed to homes to help lower the occupants of the flats, as the vehicle autoescalera evacuation was not possible because it is a very narrow street.

A total of nine people down who were attended by medical staff of 061.

All smoke inhalation, but none had serious injuries.
