The refurbishment of the Royal Street and the square of the CIM, action star of the third package of works that the City sent to MAP (16/01/2009)

The Local Government Committee met today to approve the third package of works to be submitted for funding by the Special Fund, the largest group both in action, 31, as in amount, EUR 17,256,562.44, and is estimated to require the use of 450 small business Clutches of the municipality.

In this shipment there are works of all kinds, some of them to transform the final image of Cartagena important areas, such as the work that represents a greater amount, which is the remodeling of the Royal Street to give more prominence the pedestrian, to walk and hospitality sector, as noted by the Mayor, Pilar Barreiro.

The work has an initial budget of 4,271,809 euros and is closely linked to the second work in amount, Barracks Square Seamanship Training, which will involve the incorporation into the urban fabric of a new civic space immediately to the Calle Real.

For this action has been provided an amount of 2,788,633 euros.

Among other performances of note is the inclusion of a major investment package totaling around 1,574,000 euros for the renovation and construction of the so-called 'basic sports facilities', sports courts ready for soccer practice, basketball, handball and volleyball, with systems such as lighting and fencing or changing allocations.

This will give to the municipality have a total of 11 sports facilities in as many districts and councils of Cartagena, to benefit from these works in lighting, Vista Alegre, the Barrio Virgen de La Caridad, La Aparecida, Los Belones, Playa Honda, Los Urrutias, Isla Plana, La Puebla, San Antón and José María Lapuerta Slum.

The mayor also emphasized in two performances in the amount of 833,540 in the Barrio Virgen de la Caridad.

These are projects that were included in the Urban Plan (which was not finally approved), and they were a City Council's commitment to the neighborhood.

Involve the construction of a basic sports (98,199 euros), and the renewal of pavements and lighting (735,341 euros).

On the other hand, bring forward old claims of the city, including the construction of the Museum of Glass in St. Lucia, with 509,472 euro budget, a building of about 600 square meters spread over two floors in the former premises of the association neighbors.

Also include the coverage and pool heating Strait Well, for about a million and a half of aurochs, or the renovation of the street, Juan Fernandez, with a budget of 2,334,574 euros.

In summary, the total of the entries add up to 59 different actions today worth around 33.8 million euros and forecast to employ 918 people during the duration of the work.

Pilar Barreiro finished apologizing in advance to citizenship by the chaos that many works will be underway in the town, saying the deadline so tight that the central government is given for their execution, which should be completed by 31 December.

NO BIRD OF TIME IS COMING TO CARTAGENA

The mayor has shown annoyed at reports that suggest that the Ministry of Public Works will not bring the AVE to Cartagena.

According to Pilar Barreiro, we have gone from having the high speed in 2010, to be in 2015 and solely in anticipation of coming to Murcia city, with no time limit for the path to our city.

It is very serious that the central government we have removed the AVE and I would ask the cooperation of the social sectors of the city to say that Cartagena does not deserve this, Barreiro said, after also complain of the ineffectiveness of the National Federation of Municipalities Provinces and arguing that the president does not defend the interests of all the local authorities.
