They give away hugs to celebrate International Volunteer Day (01/12/2008)

Municipal Volunteer Program of the City of Cartagena, through Implica2 Programs, IDEAS and the European Voluntary Service of the Youth Council has organized an activity framed in the celebration of International Volunteer Day, the next day, December 5 and also boasts the collaboration of students in Secondary Schools and all the volunteers, both young and old, the city of Cartagena that want to join and thus express their commitment to voluntary social action.

This activity is framed within a campaign to publicize the work of volunteering among young people of Secondary Schools, which will take place throughout 2008/2009.

In this campaign involves young local and international volunteers, by providing the students of institutes his own experience as volunteers, thus transmitting their commitment to community participation to help build a more committed and united society.

Within the activity will also mention the Millennium Goals by 2015, framed by the Millennium Campaign United Nations, which inspires and motivates the commitment and participation of people for the realization of the MDGs: eradicate extreme poverty, achieving universal primary education, promote gender equality, reducing child mortality, improving maternal health, combat HIV / AIDS and other diseases, ensure environmental sustainability and developing a global partnership for development.

Will also be referred to the 60th anniversary of the Declaration of Human Rights will be held on December 10, 2008.

The planned activity consists of:

Concentration of the participants in the Plaza of Spain at 12.00

Explaining the development of the activity 'hugging among the population'

Distribute colored gloves and stickers identifying 'Hold'

Divide into groups of colors and start walking along different streets of the city: C / Carmen, Sagasta, Plaza Juan XXIII, C / Santa Florentina, Puertas de Murcia, C / Mayor, Plaza del Ayuntamiento.

Concentration in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento de Cartagena, reading the Millennium Development Goals and the 60 Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

The event is presented by Javier Herrero Padrón, Councillor for Youth of the City of Cartagena.

The reading will be provided by students from the volunteer program of the IES Pedro Peñalver of El Algar.

Finally, focus on the esplanade of the Port to form with all the participants a 'V' Volunteer.
