The Youth Council of the City of Cartagena, through the Youth Space and within the activities of the Youth in Action Programme for the International Youth Exchange, sent Jelgava (Latvia) to six young Cartagena aged between 18 and 25, to discuss Europe.
'Imagine' is the name of the project involving these young people of Cartagena, which is to discuss with other young Latvians, Bulgarians, Romanians, Poles and Italians on two issues, the European awareness and European Youth Policies.
From Nov. 14 until the day 24th of this month, will defend their positions on the European Community as an institution and bring their ideas to try to improve it.
But this is not the first youth exchange initiative promoted by the City of Cartagena.
On October 30 returned six young people between 13 and 17 who had participated in Houlgate (France) in the European Film Festival which involved three separate workshops on: Web and TV documentaries, films and photographs.
In this International Exchange, which took place from 24th to 30th October, young people also participated in Italy, Hungary and Poland.
A CONCERN OVER YOUTH
Youth exchanges organized by the Youth Space, are intended to promote international mobility with funding from the European Community, allowing one or more groups of young people to host or be hosted by a group from another country to undertake a program of joint activities.
The exchange may revolve around a theme related groups wishing to explore together so that the theme should be translated into concrete daily activities of the exchange.
The subject of exchange can be for example, racism, xenophobia, local heritage, arts and culture, environment, drug abuse, etc..
