Los Dolores soon have a police barracks in the Castillito (13/11/2008)

The mayor of Cartagena, Pilar Barreiro, and the secretary general of the Ministry of the Presidency of the Autonomous Community, José Gabriel Ruiz, today announced the signing in the coming days, an agreement between the two administrations in the amount of 400,000 euros to provide the new local police headquarters with a staff of 25 agents, covering the west of Cartagena and will be installed in the building of small castle, former home of the Marquis de Fuentesol dolls, located in Los Dolores.

This has been released during the celebration of the feast of San Leandro, patron of the local police, act in which Pilar Barreiro has highlighted the work of agents who work every day to serve the citizens and has made stock of the achievements of recent years for growth in the number of troops, material and training, thanks to the collaboration of regional government.

In this latter respect, the training, the mayor has highlighted the forthcoming construction of the Safety Academy, a school that taught courses to agents and whose facilities have been designed.

Thus, the prospects for improvement of public security in the region are promising, in view of the data recorded in the Autonomous Region with the implementation of the Regional Public Safety Plan (2006-2016).

Today we have over 628 local policemen in the region, plus 67 new vehicles on the street.

In Cartagena this increase has led to the incorporation of 50 officers, 24 of them are already on the street and the other 26 are in the academy and passed to the template during the first quarter of 2009.

In this regard, Councillor for Citizen Security, Enrique Pérez Abellán, stressed in his speech at the evolution of a body that was created in 1862 and in the last twenty years has doubled and financial resources, adapting to the times .

At present there are 300 agents in so far this year have conducted 5,000 operations and has served more than 300,000 phone calls.

These improvements have resulted not only in quantity but also quality of service, so that has been reduced to less than three minutes the time to address pressing issues and ten minutes for non-urgent.
