A new course in the People's University (30/10/2008)

Councillor for Culture, Rosario Montero, was commissioned to officially open the 2008-2009 school year the People's University of Cartagena yesterday afternoon at the cultural center Luzzy Ramón Alonso.

The opening ceremony was attended by about 300 students in the courses and workshops in the UP.

This year there are some new training, including courses in flamenco, guitar, sing and dance, poetry classroom, astronomy courses and courses in knowledge of the region of Cartagena.

The People's University met their goal of channeling the free time of the Cartagena with cultural, educational, artistic and entertainment.

The courses of university entrance, access to higher and vocational training in drawing and painting are the most demand have year after year.

In fact, it has had to open a new course for university entrance in the morning to serve about fifty people who had been on the waiting list.

The student profile of the VHS is primarily women (75%), aged between 30 and 55, although each year the men have a greater presence in the courses on offer from this university.
