The City Council will create a business incubator for women (06/10/2008)

The mayor of Cartagena, Pilar Barreiro, announced this afternoon during the official presentation of the new courses to the Department of Women, which the City will create, through this council, a business incubator to allow host supervised business initiatives by women.

This initiative, new in town, has a grant from the region of 594,000 euros.

The mayor pointed out, in this sense, the work is done from the Local Employment Center for Women, which, in addition to advising all women who want to start a business, job placement is made.

Since last January to date, the Center has responded to 751 local users, of which 56 are entrepreneurs and 32 have become entrepreneurs, with diverse businesses dedicated to food and restaurants, aesthetics, education or home help, among others.

The center part, by appointment at an employment exchange, to women who want to work, using these data to answer the various offers that are received by private enterprise.

In addition, Barreiro has said that it has expanded the expertise in the CAVI (Specialized Center for Women victims of violence), the staff will be specifically dedicated to treating women affected by domestic violence.

OPENING OF THE COURSE

During the official opening of the courses of the Women's council, the mayor has said that this year there will be a total of 800 seats, three hundred more than during the previous year.

The high demand for training by women in Cartagena this year has caused an increase in the number of courses, especially those relating to new technologies.

Barreiro has also stressed that the courses are the most popular female personal self-defense, which will be developed in different wards of the municipality, the men's kitchen and furniture restoration, upholstery, paint, roll, glass and tortoiseshell.

Barreiro said the addition of Christmas shops and rustic flowers pinned to the training program this year, a trip to Galicia, to be held from 19 to 24 October; activities commemorating the Day of Rural Women, the International Day Against Gender Violence and Women's Day, and other activities such as theatrical performances, literary meetings, health fairs, guided tours of the Teatro Romano, games and contests.
