Enrique Escudero Museum Byzantine provides two pieces for an exhibition on the legacy from Greece (12/09/2008)

The National Library houses from next Monday 15 September to 16 November, the exhibition "Views of Byzantium: The Legacy of Greece in Spain '.

For this reason, the Municipal Archaeological Museum Enrique Escudero de Castro de Cartagena participating in this event with the loan of two parts (ointment Byzantine VI-VII century AD), from excavations in the streets Beatas and Mayor.

These pieces, made of clay seals are provided in the form of cruciform monograms suggest that they might contain water or holy oils for liturgical use.

Keep in mind the importance of Cartagena in Byzantine times which was the capital of the province of Spania.

The exhibition, which can be accessed in the pillared hall of the National Library, was held to mark the VII International Congress of Greek Palaeography.
