Cartagena Key brings classical music to the landmarks of the city (17/06/2008)

The Mediterranean Music Festival 'Cartagena Key' entering its eleventh edition with a selection of the best concerts performed by consolidated figures of the music scene both nationally and internationally, using the most emblematic scenery of the city.

Thus, as noted the Councillor for Culture, Rosario Montero, at the launch event today, as representative of Cartagena places like the Palace Hall, the Fort Christmas, the Artillery Barracks and the Polytechnic University will host concerts included in the program developed this year, to be held from 23 to 28 June.

As highlighted by the festival's director, James Casanova, the project's budget amounts to 77,000 euros and is expected sold out every concert, as has been happening in recent editions, hovering around 6,000 spectators.

Inaugurate the festival on June 23 will be the pianist Guillermo González, who will perform works by Isaac Albéniz in the lobby of the Town Hall.

Gonzalez, National Music Prize, will participate along with 9 other renowned pianists at the opening of the Olympic Games held this summer in China.

Also performing the String Quartet Esplá, on June 24 with works by Shostakovich and Dvorak, in the Cultural Hall of Caja Murcia, the singer Rocío Bazán and pianist Enrique Bazaga, the 25th, with a version of Songs of Spain to be the beautiful setting of Fort Christmas, the German orchestra Mannheimer Ensemble Orchestra, which includes musicians from various countries, including Spain, in the artillery barracks, and the University Chorus of Valencia, a large mass choir made up of more than 70 persons, acting in the auditorium of the University.

Finally, close 'Cartagena Key' Arts Opera Company, who will perform works by Puccini in the plaza of the Town Hall to celebrate the 150 anniversary of the 'father of opera. "

All concerts are free, although the activity of day 25 in the Fort Christmas will be an exception and have to pay 10 euros, and that includes sightseeing boat ride on the 'Cartagena Port of Cultures "and guided tour.

The seats can be purchased at the Interpretation Center of the Punic Wall Museum and Civil War Refuge.
