May Offer More Than 260 training places in its third edition (31/03/2008)

Mucho Mas Mayo festival organized by the Youth Council of the City of Cartagena, to be held this year from 9 to 18 May, in its third year offering 260 seats in 14 courses for young people aged between 14 and 35 (last year were offered six workshops, 90 training places).

This year the training program has been beefed up with proposals ranging from contemporary dance to the movies, to writing and rhyme of hip hop and graffiti, photography, theater, jazz, comics, and familiarity with various multimedia software.

The councilman of Youth, Javier Herrero, stressed this morning during the presentation, the workshops are a unique opportunity for many young people can purchase items that allow them to participate in the creation and production of culture, beyond the role of a consumer or spectator.

The workshops held throughout the month of May, and all with a fee, dates and subjects vary.

Frank T, rap singer and producer, also an announcer on Radio 3 will give a workshop which aims to teach the history of hip hop culture, writing a letter, when the art of singing and rap music creation.

In addition to rap, there will be a workshop for amateur musicians, professionals or students who wish to deepen the practice of playing in groups.

The film and television writer Tirso Calero will teach the workshop to provide a general understanding of what the audiovisual script, covering both television and the cinema mode.

Other courses will focus on awakening the interest of young people making comics and stimulate the creation of a pool of artists from Cartagena.

Anton Valen has had the privilege of being one of the best circus clown in the world of Cirque du Soleil, their experiences and try to transmit their knowledge to 20 students to be in his workshop Seeking clown.

In addition and for performing arts, will give a workshop introduction to improvisational theater, a contemporary dance course and a danzápolis, which will attempt to arouse interest in discovering the way in which architecture influences and inspires movement.

With regard to the latter two, the dancer and choreographer Cartagena Kike Guerrero, stressed that it is bringing contemporary dance to the general public and all those who feel the need to express their concerns through creative movement.

The workshop's Mayor, Dance and Shadows participants will interpret a choreography created for the festival in full Street of Cartagena.

Finally, the Cehiform (Photographic Historical Center of the Region of Murcia) participate in the festival through the portrait workshop, taught by photographer Antonio Cartagena Lopez, who set the trends of the portrait in the region in recent years.

The Center's director, Fernando Vázquez, stated that a workshop will be dynamic, which alternates the theoretical with the street work.

Vázquez also noted that the festival marks the difference with other similar events, as it is a multi-disciplinary event in line with the latest creative trends.

To register for workshops taught by recognized professionals, we must submit applications to the Youth Resource Centre, located in the Paseo Alfonso XIII.

Entries must be accompanied by a photocopy of the DNI and the registration fee.

Vacancies are limited and will be allocated in strict order of registration.

The deadline for applications is April 1 open tomorrow.
