IV Municipal Action Conference on Drug Addiction (22/05/2008)

The councilman of Social Care, Antonio Calderon, today announced the Fourth Conference on Municipal Action on Drug Addiction to be held on 4, 5 and 6 June in the Hall of Caja Murcia (Palacio Pedroza), included within Municipal Plan prepared by the City of Cartagena for the prevention of drug use and the promotion of healthy practices in our town.

According to Antonio Calderon in the conference will address issues related to the need for prevention, the promotion of health education, analysis of the factors that affect consumption and deepening in the most appropriate resources to address the problems of abuse drug use among the population.

The councilman of Social Care has stressed the importance of prevention, which is where most affects the City Commission of Drug Dependence, including within the Municipal Plan two groups, and other preventive care, bringing together a total of 37 people working in the coordination of actions against drugs.

At present there are eleven service points scattered throughout the county drug abusers.

In the course of the conference will be published the proceedings and relevant statistical data on drug in Cartagena and the rest of the region, provide opportunities for reflection and participation on prevention and care and encourage the development of the Municipal Plan of Action City Council on Addictions of Cartagena for the period 2008-2012.

In this new plan is to affect a greater family involvement in prevention programs, a pending so far as parents are often not involved enough.

THE 'NO DRUGS SUBSTANCE' RISE WHOLE

Another drug that is also widespread and increasingly early ages is alcohol.

In this sense, we are stressing prevention campaigns in schools, in the past year has acted on some 6,000 students from 50 schools in the municipality, and have developed guidelines for the steps to follow to prevent targeting parents of adolescents.
