The International Migrants Day culminates with the reading of a manifesto at the Palace Hall (18/12/2015)

Throughout the month of December has carried out a series of activities to mark International Migrants Day, which is celebrated today internationally and that has culminated in a manifesto that was read at the gates of the Town Hall.

Councillor for Social Services, Carmen Martin, and Deputy Mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belen Castejon, have been two of the protagonists of this reading in which they wanted to commemorate all those people who leave their home, sometimes forced, looking for improve their living situation.

Castejon stressed that we must work to promote the culture of acceptance, not the culture of denial, and we must fight against racism and hostility to seek together a rich culture.

The event has been the presence of various associations as Alraso, Accem Foundation CEPAIM Welcomes Murcia or Columbares Association, among others, which has also been represented in the manifest.

Since organizations have argued that migration is a concept that makes sense in a global world in which we live, and have spoken of the need to treat migrants and refugees as all other people and that no state can stop recognize their rights.

Finally, the Deputy Mayor has appealed to Cartagena to attend Saturday December 19 the solidarity march for refugees to be held on the esplanade of the port, with a planned duration of an hour and a half.

These entries can be made ​​on the same day 19 from 8:00 to 10:00 hours, as the race will start at 10.30 am.
