The soloists of between strings and brass dazzled in Cartagena (19/11/2015)

On the night of Wednesday the second of the promotional tour of this contest organized by City Hall and the Conservatory of Music in Cartagena was held |

Wednesday night saw great performances as soloists, with the Chamber Orchestra of Cartagena, five of the winners of the contest between strings and brass in its last edition - Lazaro Fernandez (piano), Pedro Fernandez (cello) Thomas Joseph Garcia (guitar), Francisco Tortosa (marimba) and Felicia Gomez (saxophone) - performance in which further work for marimba and string orchestra Matthew Soto, who was among the public premiered, played masterfully by the winner in the category of percussion Francisco Tortosa Sancho.

Matthew's work had a great reception from the large audience who completed the capacity of the Auditorium of the Conservatory of Music in Cartagena, overflowing their expectations.

The assistant, s including the council of Greater Quality of Life, Francisco Calderon, and the Director of the Conservatory of Music in Cartagena, Maria Angeles Bres were, enjoyed the brilliant performances of each and every one of these young talents, who embroidered their interpretations.

There is still one more concert where the soloists winners of last year's contest between strings and brass will continue to delight us with their performances. Today it will be held in the Auditorium of the Conservatory of Music in Lorca the third and last concert, beginning at 19, 00 h., with soloists Lazaro Millan Fernandez (piano), Pedro Fernandez Millan (cello), Vicente Manuel Cascales Mogica (trombone) and Miriam Silva Martinez (soprano).

The Chamber Orchestra of Cartagena with a bright path over eleven years behind in this cycle has promotional concerts under the direction of Andres Perez Barnabas.

The contest between strings and brass is unique in our community and has become a reference for those who study music in our region, reaching a high level of participation by the stimulus representing the prizes.

One of the great oddities of the competition is that it offers as a bonus added to their recipients the opportunity to perform as soloists with a professional orchestra in a series of promotional concerts, culminating in the closing of that competition, becoming an excellent training opportunity within his musical career and in the process of artistic and professional maturation future.
