The Cartagena Muram reviews the dreamlike and surreal universe of Dali with an exhibition of 32 prints and lithographs (19/11/2015)

The Regional Museum of Modern Art in Cartagena (Muram) hosts from today the exhibition "Salvador Dalí.

Graphic work ', composed of 32 pieces from a private collection.

Structured into several blocks, these prints and lithographs made in the 70's and 80 closer to the public and technical issues addressed in the creative work, as eroticism, religion, or the character of Don Quixote.

The Minister of Culture and Spokesperson, Noelia Arroyo visited the show accompanied by the curator, Antonella Montinaro, noting "the visitor will have the opportunity to delve into the dreamlike and symbolic world of Dalí, a unique universe that can go through his graphic works in this exhibition that has a great educational content and the visiting public can complete collection of sculptures by the master of surrealism as part of Muram funds ".

Graphic work 'will remain open until April and is integrated, among other pieces, a collection of prints dedicated to Don Quixote.

Cervantes character exerted great fascination for Dalí, who recreated countless times and in different ways, seduced by its mix of fantasy and reality.

In the ten engravings Muram in 1981 in which Dalí shows his personal vision of the immortal work of Cervantes are displayed.

The work of the master of Figueres is directly related to the principles of psychoanalysis of Sigmund Freud and, therefore, one of the thematic blocks of the sample is referred to surrealism and paranoiac-critical method he created in 1934 to the delirious world happened to the plane of reality.

Through recorded, the visitor will come to the visions, ideas and images that sprang from the mind of the artist, deeply interested in psychology and psychoanalysis.

Dalí's relationship with eroticism, sex and love also marked their creations.

Therefore, in addition to works that was focused on his partner and muse, Gala, have been selected representative pieces of 'Dali eroticism' as those belonging to the series 'Lovers', dedicated to famous couples as Antony and Cleopatra and Adam and Eve.

Finally, in the sample you can find a space dedicated to another central theme in the work of the painter as is mysticism and religion.

Dalí, reflecting steadily the idea of ​​death, showed great interest in religious topics in an advanced stage of his life, and one example is the drypoint entitled 'The apocalyptic rider', made in 1974 and exposed in Muram.

Graphic work 'will be open until next April 3, 2016 at the Museum of Modern Art in Cartagena at the following times: Tuesday to Friday from 10:00 to 14:00 and 17:00 to 19:00 ;

Saturday from 11:00 to 14:00 and 17:00 to 20:00;

and Sundays and holidays from 11:00 to 14:00 hours.

Other activities

The Minister Noelia Arroyo said, "coinciding with this exhibition, and considering the double exhibition and educational objective pursued all areas of the Regional Museum Network, have organized activities for the coming months and workshops that will help bring contemporary art and the figure of Dalí especially schoolchildren, teaching them that museums are living spaces ".

Specifically, on Saturday November 28 and 5 and Dec. 12 is scheduled to visit workshop for children from 6-12 years in which participants can learn about the life and work of the great artist and discover the surrealism of his works.

Also, considering the blind or visually impaired public, this temporary exhibition contains an interpretation section with three relief works carried out in fuser oven thanks to the collaboration with the ONCE Foundation.

These pieces complement the offer of integrative activities of the museum, among which touch visit Touching dreams Dali ', focused on the sculptures that are part of the permanent collection.
