From Monday until Sunday August 16, the local police carried out checks in cooperation with the Traffic Department to raise awareness of driving under the influence of alcohol causes accidents

Cartagena Local Police is performing from Monday 10th to Sunday August 16, a campaign of surveillance and control of alcohol while driving, in collaboration with the Directorate General of Traffic, and will run throughout the term municipal.

Ta detected as the police, the most significant factor in accidents in urban areas under the influence of alcohol is the belief that alcohol does not affect driving.

Remember that the Penal Code provides for drivers traveling under the influence of alcohol, drugs, narcotics or psychotropic substances, imprisonment of three to six months, or a fine of six to twelve months, or work on behalf of the community of thirty one ninety days, and in any case, the deprivation of the right to drive motor vehicles and motorcycles for longer than one and up to four years.

When a driver has consumed alcohol in small quantities and at testing exceeds the allowed rate available to the Road Safety Act, ie 0.50 mg / l in exhaled air (professionals and holders of driving licenses less than two years of antiquity more than 0.30 mg / l) shall be punished by a fine of up to 1,000 euros and the withdrawal of up to 6 points.

Driving with values ​​mg / l exhaled air of more than 0.25 to 0.50 (professionals and holders of driving license for less than two years of antiquity over from 0.15 to 0.30 mg / l) shall be punished with a fine of 500 euros and the withdrawal of 4 points.

In addition a fine of 1,000 euros will be imposed in the event that the driver had already been banned the previous year.

The aim of these controls is to drivers, driving under the influence of alcohol awareness, increases the braking distance and reduces the reaction time, undermining the physical and psychic abilities, causing numerous traffic accidents.
