The Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT), the University of Murcia and Cartagena Port Authority put in place a chair of Environment will develop research, innovation and training.
This initiative is conducted through the International Campus of Excellence Mare Nostrum.
Biodiversity and responsible management of the species and habitats of the port environment will be the priority areas.
The governing Jose Antonio Franco and Jose Orihuela today signed an agreement with the president of the Port Authority, Antonio Sevilla.
Under the agreement, the Department of Environment will carry out R & D, technical assistance and training through research groups at public universities of Murcia.
The Chair will also promote environmental tools such as banks of nature conservation, environmental land stewardship and management of natural resources, among others.
The researchers also designed socks for the conservation, sustainable use, enhancement, restoration and compensation of the natural heritage and biodiversity, according to the director of the Chair, Juan Jose Martinez, professor of Plant Production UPCT.

UPCT works closely with the Port Authority of Cartagena.
More than a dozen research groups from schools and Mines Road, Agricultural, Telecommunications, Industrial and Faculty of Business technicians and specialists working with the Port on different projects related to sustainability, such as managing natural resources The impact of port activity in the regional economy, the submarine or geotechnical studies and environmental impact of noise, among others.
These issues have no place in the shares of the new chair, designed with multidisciplinary.
The new chair of the Environment Port Authority of Cartagena Campus Mare Nostrum (APC Chair in Environment CMN) joins the twenty chairs already active in the UPCT.
