UPCT and Navantia reinforce research on technologies used in submarines (29/07/2015)

The Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) and Navantia have signed this morning in the premises of the shipbuilding company a collaboration agreement with the aim of developing R + D + i projects carried out by the company.

Among the issues to be investigated include, for example, evaluation of forms of submarines from the point of view hydrodynamic and hydroacoustic, characterization of welded joints from the point of view of fatigue and fracture or numerical simulation of processes manufacturing in general and in particular welded joints.

The agreement provides that the UPCT can perform those jobs R & D to it by NAVANTIA, for which a joint committee that will be responsible for selecting the projects to be carried out, and the staff responsible for its development is created.

This agreement falls within the framework agreement signed by both institutions in November 2013 and lasts for three years, renewable.

UPCT and Navantia, integrated in the Campus Mare Nostrum, collaborate closely on research both as training.

An example of this is the plan of practices for students of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, which NAVANTIA presented at the School of Telecommunications Engineering last June 29.
