Rotary Club Cartagena awarded a scholarship to a student UPCT (21/07/2015)

Rotary Club Cartagena has today granted a scholarship of 1,000 euros to a new student at the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) by criteria of academic excellence and family income.

Abellán Jesus Marin, a student of Degree in Industrial Technology, enjoy a scholarship in the amount of 1,000 euros to be renewed until the end of their studies if still meets the academic and economic conditions.

This assistance is carried out thanks to the agreement of collaboration between the Rotary Club UPCT and Cartagena since last summer.

According to both institutions, the proposed aid addresses the need to encourage young people with outstanding academic performance but does not have the financial resources to cover expenses that carry college.

The rector of the UPCT, Jose Antonio Franco, states that the granting of this scholarship can enhance the talent of the students.

For his part, President of Rotary Club of Cartagena, Diego Illán, adding that the initiative is an investment in the future because "intended to enable the access to skilled training students in a few years may be professionals or managers with their performances contribute to improving the life of the society in which they are. "
