The commemoration of the Virgen del Carmen, patron saint of fishermen, culminating in yesterday afternoon with the celebration of the traditional Mass in his honor at the St. James Church of St. Lucia, and then the sea procession acts who participated the mayor, Jose Lopez, Deputy Mayor, Ana Belen Castejon, and the Councillor for Fishing, Obdulia Gomez, along with the president of the Regional Assembly, Rosa Peñalver, president of the Port Authority, Antonio Sevilla, and older brother of the Fishermen's Association, Bartolomé Navarro.
The image of the patron, was ported to shoulders to the boat Isabel Martinez Cartagena, from which the Virgen del Carmen headed to the harbor mouth.
Around fifty boats accompanied the Virgen del Mar in his journey and, as has become tradition, on the road a wreath was thrown anchor-shaped, to pay tribute to those killed in the sea.
