Magdalena Correa shows the Gobi and Atacama in light boxes (15/07/2015)

The festival The Sea of Music, brings in its section of the Territories and stock art exhibition of Magdalena Correa, a Chilean artist who shows the difficulties of life on the Gobi and Atacama in light boxes.

The exhibition will last until August 30 in the old CIM, now Faculty of Business.

The councilor for Culture, Education and Equality, David Martinez has accompanied the artist during the press pass.

Magdalena Correa always felt attracted by the unknown territories, the proof is this exhibition showing Existence Territories and the Gobi in China and the Atacama in northern Chile.

This project shows territories in isolation and neglect, places where a form of human life precariously develops.

Chilean artist has expressed that stops in geographical and human isolated and unknown spaces that coexist regularly in everyday life.

The photo and video shots show a reinterpretation of Magdalena Correa from his own perspective.

In the city of Cartagena, in the Sea of Art these images in light boxes are displayed. The exhibition presents a series of monumental photographs and audiovisual works that bring out both similarities and counterpoints between regions as far apart as are the desert Atacama in Chile and the Gobi in China and Mongolia, explained the artist.

The Councillor for Culture, David Martinez explained that the exhibition will be on display until 30 August and invited all to visit it.

AN ARTIST POLIFACÃ ‰ TICA

Magdalena Correa (Santiago de Chile, 1968) graduated in Fine Arts with a major in printmaking from the Catholic University of Chile and Doctor in photography and video from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia.

He has been a member of the Line of Research Applications for Audiovisual and Multimedia Systems Engineering Department of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, Barcelona.

He specializes in photographic research projects and videos on isolated and unknown territories.
