Councillor of Greater Transparency and Good Governance, Participation, Decentralization and Celebrations, Juan Pedro Torralba, has asked the Coastal Authority and the Directorate General for the Environment to speed up procedures to allocate troops to the body under the Ministry of Environment had committed this summer, in order to expedite the cleanup of the beaches of Los Urrutias, grandchildren and Estrella de Mar.
The mayor said that the city of Cartagena has allocated several municipal cleaning crews, a total of 14 troops from IMSEL, tasks of daily collection of algae on weekdays and during the weekends but in the month of July, full summer season can not be waiting for the brigades committed by Costas and come to intensify and strengthen during most hours of the day the work of shoreline cleanup.
Torralba has urged both governments to be agile in dealing with these performances with a particularly sensitive area of the Mar Menor, where many residents complain about the dirt and spills and where hundreds of holidaymakers can not enjoy bathing in the large amount of algae, silt and dirt that is on the shores of the beaches.
