WWF invited to embark to protect the seabed (01/07/2015)

WWF has come to Cartagena in his solar catamaran to draw attention to the need to protect the seabed of the Region. It is the sixth edition of the Embark campaign, Journey to the Ocean Center, and through various activities intended to bring citizens the importance of preserving the marine ecosystem.

This presentation has attended the Councillor for Industry, Tourism, Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development, Obdulia Gomez.

Through the solar catamaran, which only pushes through the energy of the sun, will sail for the coast of Murcia to raise awareness of the need to protect the seabed.

WWF has started his campaign here in Cartagena, the third time they visit the port city, where they intend to disseminate and publicize the deep Mediterranean ecosystems and especially in the region of Murcia.

The NGO has arrived today, and will remain in the port city on 2, 3, 4 and 5 July in Cavite Heroes Square with various information and participatory activities for all citizens, young and old.

Events take place mostly in the evening or night with exposures that give visibility to marine ecosystems, which are 200 meters deep and it looks like if we do not see does not exist, and they are actually there and have a wealth biodiversity, as explained by the coordinator of the campaign Embark.

Among the children's activities plays, they transmit and raise awareness to the smallest of respect for the marine ecosystem, exhibitions, informative videos, scientific, marine activities, etc. will be developed.

Even those citizens who come will be able to board the solar catamaran and enjoy a cruise.

The Councillor for Industry, Tourism, Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development, Obdulia Gomez has conveyed its appreciation for the work that develops WWF and its presence in the city.

He has also taken the importance of awareness and respect for ecosystems and reserves, as it affects us all.

In addition, the mayor explained that since the council believe that this campaign is interesting and necessary because marine resources at our disposal we keep them as the raw material is also holding other sectors.

Following the presentation, about fifty children between 6 and 10 years of the Sailing School of Real Club de Regatas de Cartagena have participated in a theater.
