Agricultural researchers begin this week inventory of rural roads in the municipality of Cartagena (03/06/2015)

Researchers at the School of Agricultural Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT), begins this week to take stock of the rural roads of Cartagena.

The objective of this project, led by Professors Martin and Bernardo Victoriano Martinez, is to check the current condition of the rural roads of the municipality, in order that the council can plan the proper conservation of the same.

This action is part of a collaboration agreement between the UPCT and the city of Cartagena.

The main objective is to develop an inventory that is the basis to argue and justify the application of grants and / or subsidies for rural conservation to other Public Administrations and European Institutions road system.

Project managers hope to have the cooperation of students of Agricultural School, "to enable them to perform their jobs to grade their work in this discipline of agricultural engineering" and Victoriano Martin apostillan Bernardo Martinez.

The campaign will start with the Councils of La Aljorra, Perín, the ports of Santa Barbara and Campo Nubla, and will be extended to the rest of the municipality.

Martin warns, "there is a lot of work because the maps and can identify many ways, but it sure as field work to develop further will emerge."

To inventory, researchers shall be fitted with a camera with geo and chips will have to fill.

During the fieldwork will take multiple snapshots of rural roads and complete the form with details about conservation and the state of the same.
