Barreiro announced that it will appoint a councilor responsible fisheries (11/05/2015)

The Popular Party candidate for mayor of Cartagena, Pilar Barreiro accompanied by the Minister of Agriculture and Environment, Adela Martinez Cacho, met this morning with representatives of the Fishermen's Association of Cartagena to pass on support for fishing as an important sector to support the town's economy.

Barreiro stressed that "if Cartagena deposited their trust, there will be a councilor responsible fisheries".

Among the measures of support expressed by the candidate of the Popular Party is promoting consumption of fish from Cartagena as an indigenous product brand and quality.

Pilar Barreiro has moved to the fishermen the explicit support of his party to fishing as an important economic activity in the municipality and collaboration to support this sector.

"As a proposal we will continue to support the promotion of fish Cartagena by holding events such as maceration of a route from the top only fish Cartagena, he added.

In this regard, the candidate recalled initiatives as PESCASOS developed in collaboration with the Association Columbares order to contribute sustainably to better management and conservation of fisheries resources in the region of Murcia and to promote consumption of fish from Cartagena.

Barreiro announced the representatives of the guild an interest in establishing cooperation channels to find resources and support to help the sustainability and vitality of the sector.

The candidate wants tourism also let their profits in the fisheries sector and has proposed the inclusion of the fish market of Saint Lucia as a unique and attractive for inclusion in the tourist itineraries of the city space.
