An FAO expert attending the 4th Workshop of Agrifood Research and give keys to avoid wasting food (08/05/2015)

4th Workshop of Agrifood Research has organized the doctoral program in TAIDA of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) together with CEBAS-CSIC and IMIDA for 11 and 12 May will feature the expert the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Rome, Jorge Fonseca.

Fonseca will attend as guest speaker and will offer on May 11 at 9:15 pm in the auditorium of the School of Agricultural Engineering (ETSIA) a presentation on the needs of R & D to reduce global food losses.

The FAO expert will be one of the 90 researchers that the university expects to gather next week in this event.

The workshop will be a forum for experts in the field share the latest results of their research in the food field.

The presentations also highlighted the Jose Manuel Lopez Nicholas, professor in the area of ​​biochemistry at the University of Murcia and head of the blog 'Scientia', for which he received several awards among which the 'Blogs' the best blog Hispanic;

Award '20 blog ';

the 'EuropaBio' disclosure of biotechnology Honorable Mention for Prism Awards.

Nicholas illustrate the other attendees about the influence of the world as an emerging tool 2.0 popularizing science.

The 12th assist Mark Wilkinson, distinguished at the Center for Biotechnology and Plant Genomics (CBGP) of BBVA Chair of Biologicar Informatics and expert on W3C's Semantic Web in Health Care and Life Sciences Interest Group and member of the Editorial Board of the Journal researcher of Biomedical Semantics.

He will give a presentation on the process from which a hypothesis is constructed through an experiment until it gets results and these can be published.

Finally, it will be presented in collaboration with the network of technological chairs UPCT research award G'S SPAIN for best oral presentation endowed with 400 euros as well as a certificate attesting the best poster at the end of the day.

The sessions have been distributed in Food Technology and Engineering, Agrifood Biotechnology, Technology and Engineering Plant Production and Agroforestry Engineering and Economics.

Artes Francisco Hernandez, coordinator of the doctoral program in Advanced Agricultural and Food Research and Development (TAIDA) Technical highlights the importance of publicizing the progress achieved young researchers UPCT.
