International experts participating this week in the Minimum Hortofrutícola International Course on Postharvest Technology and Processing (04/03/2015)

More than 30 international experts from nine countries show nearly a hundred attendees the newest of horticulture at the Ninth Annual International Course on Postharvest Technology and Processing Minimum Hortofrutícola, organized by the School of Agriculture of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena progress (UPCT).

The experts participating in the course, which begins tomorrow, Thursday and ends on March 11, come from leading universities and research centers in the United States, France, England, Italy, Netherlands, Brazil, Mexico, Chile and Spain.

Among the topics to be discussed are the handling and storage of horticultural products, facilities and equipment, packaging, disinfection, food quality and safety, and transportation.

The processing and packaging of minimally processed fresh or "Fourth Series" food, ready to eat, with its latest innovations plant products will also be addressed.

In addition there is provided a series of technical visits to leading companies in the sector located in the Region of Murcia.

The course is funded by nine companies in the sector: Tecnidex SAU SAU Citrosol Products, Decco Iberica SA, Fomesa Fruitech SLU, Sakata Seed Ibérica SLU, Sensitech Inc., Bioconservación SA, Group G's Spain and SPE • 3 SL Postharvest Portal.

The activity aims to train technicians, researchers, professionals and students of engineering, masters and doctorates related to Europe and Latin America, indicate the directors Francisco Artés Calero, Perla Di Marco and Francisco Gómez Hernández Artes, postharvest Group and Refrigeration (GPR- UPCT) and the Institute of Plant Biotechnology (IBV-UPCT).
