Recover juniper forests dwells on the ancient route of a road in the Regional Park Calblanque (23/02/2015)

More than 70 people from the mountaineering sector "guardians of the earth", the Calblanque ANSE Association and juniper forests recover arrears (Tetraclinis articulata) in the Regional Park Calblanque, Mount of Ashes and Eagle Rock.

The initiative, which has the financial support of Gas Natural Fenosa, is part of the LIFE + Tetraclinis-Europe project (LIFE13 NAT / ES / 000436) funded initiative in collaboration with the LIFE financial instrument of the European Union.

On Saturday 13 February more than 70 people participated in a day of recovery juniper forests mora (Tetraclinis articulata) in the old layout of the MU-314 road that runs through the Regional Park Calblanque, Mount of Ashes and Eagle Rock.

The activity involved persons belonging to the group mountaineer "guardians of the earth", the Calblanque Association and the Association of Southeast Naturalists.

These plantations are intended to involve the public and various groups in the actions of conservation and recovery of habitats of Community interest groves of Tetraclinis articulata by planting plant species that compose it as juniper own default or cypress Cartagena (Tetraclinis articulata ) together with the arto (Maytenus senegalensis), the cornical (Periploca angustifolia), wild olive (Olea europaea) and other shrubs.

This typically North African vegetation type has its unique location in continental Europe in the Sierra de Cartagena, which gives an extraordinary environmental value to our forests.

During the event, over 200 different copies of protected species produced in Cartagena ANSE nursery were planted on slopes and disturbed areas of the old course of the road.

The holes were opened by the participants using picks and hoes and watering was done to ensure its roots as it is late planting dates.

The initiative is financially supported by FENOSA NATURAL GAS that collaborate in the care required planting (irrigation, protectors) and is part of the LIFE + Tetraclinis-Europe (LIFE13 NAT / ES / 000436) project, an initiative funded by the collaboration LIFE financial instrument of the European Union.

The LIFE project is coordinating beneficiary to the Directorate General Environment of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia as partners and beneficiaries Sierra Minera Foundation, Southeastern Association of Naturalists, City of Cartagena and Murcia University.
