El Teatro Romano reaches the highest number of visits in a year since its opening (03/12/2014)

So far this year the Roman Theatre in Cartagena and its museum has been visited by over 155,372 visitors, representing an increase of 12% over the previous year, as announced today by the Mayor, Pilar Barreiro, the meeting Foundation which manages the site.

Barreiro has stressed that this increase represents more than 20,000 people in 2013, and the highest number of annual visitors since its opening now just over 6 years.

Since its inauguration on July 11, 2008 has been more than 920,000 people by the monumental, making it the most visited region of Murcia and one of the most visited museums nationwide Museum.

INDIVIDUAL VISITS AND BETWEEN APRIL AND SEPTEMBER

76% of visitors in 2014 are individual and focus especially between the months of April to September.

This public a number corresponding to families vacationing on the coast and come to visit the city, but also highlights a significant number specialists in Art History, Archaeology and Architecture, and an important number of foreigners who stay on the beaches Region or come aboard a cruise.

24% are group visits, of which 33% are school children from the region, and to a lesser amount of Albacete, Alicante and Almería, 22% of visits Senior trips, and 32% visits groups of foreigners mostly from cruise ships that dock in the city.

The rest belongs to various associations and cultural groups.

DOMESTIC AND FOREIGN ALMOST EQUAL PARTS

As to the origin of visitors, 53% are domestic visitors. Among the highlights domestic visitors from Madrid, Valencia, Andalusia and Catalonia.

Foreign visitors this year have meant 47% of the visitors, this percentage 41% are English, US 18%, 9% German, French 8% and 3% of Russians.

The mayor pointed out that the museum Teatro Romano has sought throughout its six years of life, while ensuring the preservation of its collections and monument, increasing the number of visitors and increase their degree of loyalty through various policies promotion, care and hospitality to visitors, and the diversification of services offered, which has consolidated annually a figure close to 135,000 visitors, on average.
