IU-green requires of the council to request the Central Government cohesion in the price of water statewide (24/10/2014)

United Left-Greens demanded in the City today, through a motion to be debated in full next Monday to urge the central government to propose and agree to the House of Representatives measures that promote a cohesive policy the price of water for human consumption in the state level, ensuring access to all citizens.

The announcement by the mayor of reduction of 5 percent of the water bill for 2015 households and local Cartagena quickly neutralized by the turn made by the Commonwealth of Channels Taibilla the need to increase the meter fare cubic, should serve to reopen the debate on the current legal status that prevails over the water.

For IU-Greens, this basic necessity may not be a market product, but must be priced to guarantee access to it for the whole population.

The MCT incorporates the price of water acquisition costs, and energy reservoir elevation by pumping;

and the final price paid by the city, and at the municipal level, it also includes the cost of distribution networks, sanitation, treatment and management, depreciation of investments and business profit and when the water has been redeemed and purified gets the State property for resale for reuse in the agricultural area or give it away, as is the case of Cartagena, thereby preventing the City can reduce its cost.

For the formation of the aforementioned left cohesive water pricing policy is necessary because each watershed has its own costs, there are huge differences and it is not acceptable equal citizens in a state that is to be governed by the principle of basin unit the situation is so uneven, discriminatory and unsupportive as the study conducted by the Spanish Association of Water Supply and Sanitation).

Under this condition, the price of water for domestic use by regions shows that in the region of Murcia is where the most expensive nationwide water is paid, with the cost per cubic price of EUR 2.31, far amount of the 0.95 paid in Castilla-León or 0.80 of the Autonomous City of Melilla.
