The struggle for equality stars in the Manifesto for the Rural Women's Day (15/10/2014)

Rural women raised his voice Tuesday to mark its International Day, an opportunity that exploited this group for their rights and give visibility to your figure. President of the Association of Family and Women in Rural (AFAMMER), Carmen English , was commissioned this morning at the gates of Fair Women's Associations in the port, reading the Manifesto.

Accompanied by a large group of women, as the Councillor for Women, Clara Hall, English highlighted the work of undertaking this group: This is one of the main engines of growth and development from the agricultural and livestock sector, and the new road to be opens with economic diversification using the natural resources.

One example, as read in the Manifesto, rural women are more entrepreneurial than men, beating them by 8 points and 20% more than women in cities.

By celebrating this Day, this group aims to visualize their work in rural areas. Has been a remarkable change in recent decades, being virtually in the shadows to take initiative and be part of the business, assured the president this morning AFAMMER.

Although these women are clearly still have much to do, part of the way to go to achieve equality of opportunity.

So continue as unfinished business, promote shared ownership of farms, increase the presence of women in decision-making bodies such as cooperatives and end the silence surrounding medium rural women against gender violence.

Today, as Carmen added English, rural women continue to face serious obstacles in exercising their rights and is a major lack of training, so our association organized workshops and courses to alleviate this problem.

In fact, 80% of the 67 million children who are out of school live in rural areas and most of them are girls.
