The Community repairs antimedusas networks and works in cleaning swimming areas in Los Urrutias (11/08/2014)

The Ministry of Agriculture and Water now repaired the break antimedusas network detected on the beach of Los Urrutias, in the municipality of Cartagena.

The Director General of Livestock and Fisheries, Carmen Teodora Morales explained that through the public company Tragsa and the fishermen of San Pedro del Pinatar being fished specimens that came into the bathroom area "as a result of the 'effect funnel 'that occurred. "

Morales added that "the current operative to control the maintenance and repair of networks del Mar Menor is composed of six ships, two of whom are now working in the area."

The director explained that the reason for the failure of network "could be from worn over networks or own a boat" is unknown.

The campaign for control of jellyfish this summer began last May when the Community installed 43 kilometers of networks in almost all bathing areas of the Mar Menor.

The device, which annually enables the Ministry of Agriculture and Water, protects an area of ​​more than 1.5 million square meters.

The Service's Fisheries Ministry also performs sampling indicative tracking jellyfish populations, in collaboration with the Spanish Institute of Oceanography, which can predict the occurrence of the various species of coelenterates throughout the summer.
