Biggest clubs receive 84,000 euros for costs and activities (23/07/2014)

The mayor, Pilar Barreiro, has this morning signed agreements with the municipality contributes to the maintenance and socio-cultural activities of the Federation of Older Cartagena and Shire and Seniors 42 clubs exist in the municipality.

These agreements, which are renewed annually, represent the contribution of 84,000 euros to these entities during the year to that address expenses like electricity, water, telephone, cleaning, holiday and craft workshops.

The clubs, which have associated a population of 6,000 elderly also receive municipal support for the development of active leisure activities, training and health through workshops and programs, as recalled by the mayor during the signing ceremony.

Barreiro recalled that the Department of Social Services works with the intention to promote the autonomy of our elders, keeping them as active members of society and given dignity and independence when you need help.

With that philosophy programs or tele-home care were created.

In this sense, the mayor has used the ceremony held today at the Palace Hall, to acknowledge the work of major associations, facilitating the work of the City Council and officials of the Department of Social Services, whose commitment goes beyond their share of work and so show his involvement with the group of elderly.
